ABC Tech, part of the Telenor Group, is a newly established subsidiary of the Norwegian media group Amedia AS and web portal ABC Startsiden AS. ABC Tech aims at delivering leading products and services to Amedia, ABC Startsiden and other members of the Telenor family, in tight collaboration with the respective development departments in Norway.
ABC Startsiden is a leading Norwegian web portal and has ranked top three in Norway for the past decade or so with a highly profitable operation. The company has a leading technology department, and contributes to Open source projects whenever feasible. Startsiden is primarily built on Perl and PHP. Central tools are Catalyst, DBIx::Class and Template-Toolkit.
Amedia is Norway’s 2nd largest media group, owning 77 newspapers in addition to a range of other media-related holdings. Amedia has an annual turnover in excess of 5 billion Norwegian kroner and employs 3600 people. The web presence of Amedia Development is substantial, with a total of 85 publications. The technical platform is a home brewed Java system consisting of several small modules which work in concert in order to create the pages. The back end data storage is Escenic.
